Direct employment or agency rental: what the structure changes
A capability centre with directly employed staff and a team rented from an agency may cost the same in the first year. They do not behave the same.
Directly employed people build knowledge of your business that stays with you. They answer to your standards, and they can grow into ownership. Rented teams are managed through contracts and are often reassigned elsewhere.
For regulated Swiss organisations, the structure also matters for oversight. Questions about access, audit rights, data location and who holds the keys are easier to answer when the people concerned work for you.
None of this means one model is always right. It means the structure should be chosen deliberately, as a decision about control, and not left as a by-product of the price comparison.
